Following last years massive internal restructuring, when apparently Motorola recruited an army of Android developers ready for this years releases, some interesting pics of an unannounced device have sneaked out onto the web. It seems to show a prototype handset with a 5 meg Kodak camera, Xenon flash, TV out, huge touchscreen - and the distinct possibility of Android. Following the decidedly barren lack of Android handsets at last weeks MWC in Barcelona, Motorola wil be keen to be seen as the company which smacks down the so-so hardware of the G1 with its own line of Android handsets.
The leaked photos are inconclusive. Android mandates a home and back button as part of its minimal hardware spec, as the functions these offer are entrenched deeply througout the system. The fact they are missing may not mean too much however - they may be hidden, or intended to be added later.

With the news Motorola is drastically simplifying its OS range, and the last ditch need for a killer handset to rival its former RAZR days, it could well be we are seeing the dawn of a new Moto era. |
