MWC 2009 in Barcelona this year will see an explosion of Android handset announcements. The latest to throw their hat in the ring is General Mobile with the DSTL1, which features the dual-SIM design they are known for in the far east. This handset looks light years away from the clunky G1, in fact it could have come straight out of Mr. Jobs and co's design shops. It has no keyboard, a full-on touchscreen and is right up there in the looks department with the iPhone.
The camera is a G1-demolishing 5 megapixel affair from Sharp and, according to the spec, even beats the G1 in the software department by running MIDP 2.0 apps natively.

There are concerns, especially after the Kogan Agora's 11th hour withdrawal, that the screen resolution on Android handsets needs to be better than initially assumed. Presumably after the success of the Android Marketplace, the available apps have raised this particular bar. The DSTL1 is better than the Kogan Agoras 320x240 display but will its 400x240 resolution be good enough?
