In 2010, half of Acers handsets will run Android according to reports from DigiTimes. The rest of their handsets will run Windows mobile, which is smarting after enjoying such a major role in Acers previous models.
HTC & Motorola showed the way with serious Android plans so Acer is in good company here. The A1 is already on pre-order from Expansys with a large marketing push due in November ready for the Christmas holiday bonznza, tradtionally the period where handset sales outstrip significantly all other times of the year.

The A1 has a Qualcomm 8250 CPU running at 768 MHz and runs the Android 2.0 donut OS. Other features include 512MB of RAM, a 3.5-inch touchscreen with WVGA resolution, and GPS. The device operates on the HSPA/WCDMA networks at 850/1900/2100mHz. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are also built-in along with a 5MP webcam.
