At IFA 2009 in Germany this week LG showed their first Android handset, codenamed "Etna". This was at the Vodafone booth, so it looks like this beauty will be headed our way via that carrier - hopefully way before the holiday season, which will be the case if they meet their launch date of Q409. It looks like a curvier version of the first Android handset, the G1, with beefed up specs in the camera department bringing it to a very desirable 5-meg.
LG, as other manufacturers, are known to plan handsets in series, so this is likely to be the first of several announcements regarding their Android mobiles.

There is precious little news about this handset: these pics were captured by German magazine chip.de, but it seems fair to assume this is aimed at the midrange market. Seen here sporting plain vanilla Android it also remains to be seen if LG will give it a makeover the same way HTC, Sony Ericsson and Motorola are planning. Hopefully we won't have to wait long to find out...
