Chrome OS Principal Engineer Dallas, TX
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
• Serve as owner of Chrome OS SW technical development/optimization roadmap, being continually aligned with customers resulting in a differentiated user experience on Application Processors
• Direct system performance measurements/benchmarking and linking development roadmap priorities to achieve best-in-class targets
• Direct participation in Chromium OS irc and chat rooms
• Attend and participate in industry Chrome OS conferences and gatherings
• Identify and manage third parties with best-in-class technical knowledge and abilities
• Mentor junior engineers and new engineers coming onboard
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of development experience in Embedded Linux on ARM SOCs (OMAP processors a plus) with a focus on Linux kernel code and code closer to hardware. A proven history of contribution towards the Linux kernel in open source, with a passion toward open source development, are required. This engineer must be very knowledgeable with open source development practices.
Development experience in C/C++ and Java programming languages is a must. Solid software design, build, configuration management and debug skills are also needed. Hands-on experience with current browsing technologies (HTML4/5, Javascript/ECMAscript, HTTP1.1, CSS) and knowledge or working experience in developing/building/integrating with Webkit web browser engine are also needed.
Knowledge or working experience of video, display and graphics frameworks (V4L2, OMXIL, OpenGL, SKIA, X11) and formats – MPEG4, H.264, WMV, ON2 is preferred. Knowledge or working experience in V8 open-source Java script engine is desired.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to work effectively with team members at other sites, countries, companies, and in the open source community. Regular travel to customer sites, both domestic and international, will be required.
