Motorola logoMotorola moved up a gear ahead of it expected Android onslaught by announcing a program to capture the hearts and minds of its future Android developers - MOTODEV. Expected later this year, the MotoDev Studio mobile IDE for Android is an Eclipse based development environment on which Motorola is expected to base development for all its Android handsets on.

The Android team have released NDK 1.6 rel 1. This is the Native Development Toolkit toolkit which allows developers to code Android apps using native Linux code, with a few limitations. The point of this is raw speed and efficiency - software using this system bypasses the java layer to hit the metal directly. As this code is written for Linux the language used is usually C or C++.

FoolWell paid applications have officially rolled out, or rather - reached my phone through the android market. The first thing I wanted to find out, is what is the protection scheme used?! My first assumption is that it might be something tied to your account, or android id - something sort of like SlideLOCK which I previously mentioned. So after looking around the market I downloaded a few applications and I also decided to download some “protected” free applications. Mainly I wanted free applications to toy with, so I didn’t feel bad possibly violating paid ones :)
